Friday 1, March 2024: SSE Airtricity, Northern Ireland’s leading provider of natural gas, has confirmed today it will reduce its regulated natural gas prices by 22.8%, saving a typical household customer £320.47* annually, equivalent to £6.16 per week*.

The 22.8% reduction announced today comes into effect from 1 April 2024 and will apply to all domestic and small business customers.

SSE Airtricity is a price controlled regulated supplier of natural gas to over 200,000^ home and small business customers in Northern Ireland. The company is announcing the reduction following a recent regulated tariff review on the back of improvements in the global energy markets, which has seen wholesale gas prices reducing from the record highs experienced in the last 18 months.

Today’s announcement follows consultation with the Northern Ireland Utility Regulator. The company also consulted with the Department for the Economy (DofE) and the Consumer Council of Northern Ireland (CCNI) as part of the review.

Andrew Greer, SSE Airtricity General Manager (NI) said:

“I’m pleased to be sharing this good news with our customers today. We know energy costs are a primary concern for customers across Northern Ireland, and that wholesale market volatility has impacted households and business so this price reduction will no doubt provide some welcome relief.

“However, we recognise that energy costs will remain difficult for many customers, so, as well as reducing prices whenever we can, we also work with customers to offer additional support and services.”
