About Us
SSE Airtricity is the number one provider of natural gas in Northern Ireland. We supply natural gas to homes and businesses in the Greater Belfast area, ‘Ten Towns’ network, and the new ‘Gas to the West’ network. SSE Airtricity’s gas supply business in Northern Ireland is regulated under licence by the Northern Ireland Authority for Utility Regulation (NIAUR).
We’re also Northern Ireland’s second-largest electricity provider. As a group, SSE has been harnessing our greatest natural resource for the past 25 years, generating over 117 Megawatts (MW) of wind energy from local wind farms in Northern Ireland, including Slieve Kirk Wind Park, Northern Ireland’s largest windfarm. We also have agreements with third-party renewable energy generators, including the largest solar farm on the island of Ireland, Bann Road at Rasharkin in Co. Antrim.
In total, SSE Airtricity has over 360,000 home and business customers in Northern Ireland.
We are a wholly owned subsidiary of SSE plc, a FTSE Top–40 listed company.
Supporting homes and businesses on the journey to net zero
We provide gas boiler services, repairs, installations and Green Home Upgrade solutions across Northern Ireland. Through our One-Stop-Shop, we’ll help you to retrofit your home, improving warmth and comfort, while lowering your carbon footprint. Solutions include insulation, triple-glazed windows and doors, solar PV panels and EV charging.
We also work with businesses across Northern Ireland to help reduce costs and carbon emissions. Our Business Energy Services include energy audits, low-energy lighting, solar PV, electric vehicle infrastructure, a demand-side response programme, corporate power purchase agreements and more.

SSE Airtricity employs more than 300 people directly in Northern Ireland. We’re proud to be accredited by the UK’s Living Wage Foundation, meaning all our employees can earn a real living wage.
SSE has also created hundreds of jobs, and supported local supply chain businesses, through the construction of our wind farms.
Since 2008, SSE has invested over half a billion pounds in the development of Northern Ireland’s sustainable energy infrastructure, helping to make a greener economy and secure Northern Ireland’s energy future.
